Company History
 

Robert A. Combs Jr. is the owner and president of Spitfire Aviation. He has over twenty years of experience in aviation as a United States Air Force aviator, a Certified Flight Instructor and a FAR 135 Check Airman. He earned the honor of becoming a Top Gun and is a Desert Storm Veteran. He started Spitfire Aviation in 1991 with a single engine Cessna and has built it into a multi-million dollar corporation. Mr. Combs has a Bachelor's of Science degree from Valdosta State College and has a Master's Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. 




 


Spitfire Aviation began setting higher standards in 1991 at a small airport in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. By 1993, Spitfire opened a second location in Goldsboro, North Carolina and moved to its current location at Concord Regional Airport in 1997. Since 1997, Spitfire has operated a 35,000 square foot facility that includes aircraft charter, aircraft sales, aircraft management, and an FAA approved full service maintenance facility.
